Adjuvant nanocellulose with different physicochemical property can induce immune adjuvant effects without posing cytotoxicity.

Abstract Objective: To analyze the in vitro effectiveness of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) inducing pro-inflammatory and immune adjuvant effects THP-1 cells, a monocyte cell line isolated from peripheral blood an acute monocytic leukemia patient. Methods: cells were counted, their viability was calculated followed by quantification IL-1 β production. Results: We observed following: 1) CNCs not cytotoxic to lines, 2) 280 nm length CNC induced strongest response within our selected size spectrum.
